Tag refers to images referencing the 2020 American live action adaptation of the Sonic_the_Hedgehog video game franchise. It is a family friendly action comedy film directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller. It stars Ben Schwartz as Sonic's voice, Jim Carrey ad Dr. Ivo Robotnik, and James Marsden as film original character Tom Wachowski. The soundtrack was composed by JunkieXL.

The film provides an origin story for Sonic and Eggman, showing the start of their long-term rivalry, something the original games and many adaptations never elaborate on. Sonic, in this film's universe, is a blue hedgehog who lives on a completely different realm from humans. His quills give him extraordinary power and speed, which leads his caretaker Longclaw the Owl to discourage him from openly showing his powers for fear of attracting unwanted attention. Sonic ignores her advice, and attracts the attention of a group of echidnas who attack the two of them. Longclaw helps Sonic escape to Earth and gives him a bag of rings he can use to create portals to other worlds in case he needs to run.

For the next few years, Sonic lays low on Earth, but enjoys many aspects of the planet. He is particularly interested in the lives of the Wachowski couple, Tom and Maddie, and often spends his time observing them. However, Sonic has no real friends and one night, the loneliness gets to him so much that in a moment of frustration he causes an EMP burst that draws the attention of not only the police but also the government who send the mad scientist Dr. Ivo Robotnik to investigate. Sonic hides in Tom's shed to escape from Robotnik only to be discovered by Tom who shoots Sonic with a tranquilizer in a moment of surprise. This causes Sonic to lose his portal rings. After hearing of Sonic's plight, Tom agrees to help Sonic and the two of them must recover Sonic's rings before Dr. Robotnik can get his hands on the hedgehog.

The film is notable for its very long development. Plans for a live action adaptation of Sonic were circulating as far back as 1993, but it was not until 2013 when Sony acquired the rights that any serious progress was made and the team that would create the final product was formed. In 2017, Paramount acquired the rights from Sony, making the film a Paramount Pictures production. The film was planned to be released in 2019 and the film revealed what Sonic would look like for the first time that year in the first trailer for the film. This initial design was met with widespread backlash from fans, Sega, and Sonic's original creators. In response to the criticism, Jeff Fowler decided that Sonic had to be redesigned, so the filmmakers hired popular Sonic artist Tyson_Hesse to come up with a new design for Sonic, and released a second trailer with Hesse's design. This second trailer was much more positively received. Sega, too, was pleased with the new design and eventually helped promote the movie by having movie Sonic be playable in the Sonic Dash and Sonic Forces mobile games. The filmmakers decided to delay the release of the film to February 14, 2020 to give the animators more time to reanimate the movie.

Upon release, the film received mixed reviews from professional critics, but had a better reception compared to most video game movies. It was more successful amongst general audiences to the point that it became the most successful live action video game film, opening to 21 million dollars on its first day and grossing 216 million dollars by the end of its second week of release.
