Now Viewing: guroTag type: General Guro is a Japanese term derived from the English word “grotesque”. It is a genre of art dealing with themes of gore, mutilation, disfigurement, extreme violence or something that's just weird beyond comprehension. Guro does NOT simply refer to violent or bloody imagery, but in fact EXTREME GRAPHIC violence. Do not use this tag for images where the blood tag would suffice. Please note that "Any depiction of extreme mutilation, extreme bodily distension and feces" is a violation of site policy and should not be posted. More specifically this includes (but may not be limited to) severe mutilation of body parts, fetishism of inflicting flesh wounds and live amputation. Such images already posted should be flagged for deletion. Images with the guro tag represent the absolute threshold of acceptable violence on Gelbooru. Guro is shorthand for erotic grotesque. Extreme graphic violence is part of it but things like horrifying monsters and body horror are also guro. Basically anything that is simultaneously erotic and grotesque qualifies as guro. If it's just grotesque but there's no erotic element to it, it's not guro.
